Artists often become known for painting one particular subject. California artist Erin Rosen has a growing reputation for finding focus within many subjects. Erin 's curiosity and eye for things of beauty will not allow her to be pinned to one subject. However, several characteristics about her work remain constant: Confident brushwork, a mature simplicity, sensitivity of color, a strong feeling of light and atmosphere, and the story of a brief moment in time.

Since childhood, Erin has been working towards becoming a professional artist. Her father, an avid art and antiques collector, encouraged this while she also learned with her grandfather, often painting floral still life's along side him.

Though she majored in Studio Art at Loyola University , her painting style is mostly self-taught, a result of her desire to learn and her clear direction toward becoming the artist she strives to be.

Working both in her Pasadena studio, as well as directly from nature, Erin describes her work as a delicate blending of reality with mystery, passion with restraint, and skill with inspiration. Most of Erin ’s work is done in the “alla prima” tradition. This process lends itself to the overall feeling of boldness and immediacy evident in her work. “If I labor over a painting, I have found that it often loses its freshness and honesty. My best and most inspired works are the ones completed decisively and without hesitation.”

Erin ’s work has been in several national and regional juried exhibitions including the American Impressionist Society’s Annual Exhibition where she won “Best of Show” in 2003. She often uses her artwork to raise funds for charitable organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Parkinson’s Research Organization. Erin ’s artwork can be found throughout her native California and other Western states, in various group and solo exhibitions.
